Current research includes: effects of fuels/fire risk reduction treatments using hydro-mow or thinning on pinyon-juniper ecosystem components within the wildland-urban-interface; long-term implications of thinning and thinning/prescribed burning to the microbial community and below-ground processes in ponderosa pine ecosystems; response of microbial community to different season of burn in Southwestern mesquite/grasslands.
