Ashing Protocol - method to determine ash free oven dry mass of any sample. Chloroform Fumigation - We use the chloroform fumigation method to measure microbial biomass Nitrogen. After soil samples have been extracted with potassium sulfate solution and digested, the digestate is run on a Lachat automated ion analyzer to determine total Kjeldahl Nitrogen. Digestion Protocol for Plant or Soil Samples - Samples are then analyzed for TKP and TKN. Potassium Sulfate Extraction - Potassium Sulfate Extraction Digestion - This is the method we use to digest potassium sulfate extractions which are then analyzed for Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen.
