Cottonwood Research Project

An interdisciplinary research team composed of scientists from NAU and the University of Wisconsin. Emphasizing the need to understand how genetic variation in primary producers structures communities, affects species distribution, and alters ecosystem-level processes, current research focuses on the interactive effect of genetics and hybrid fitness in cottonwoods, arthropod diversity and community structure, plant defensive chemistry, and evolution.
